Studies in Art and Literature for Belle da Costa Greene is a posthumously published collection, celebrating Greene’s contributions to Morgan’s collection of art and rare books. Greene retired from her role as director of the Pierpont Morgan Library in 1948, two years before her death in 1950 at the age of 70. This publication—edited by the librarian of the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore, Dorothy Eugenia Miner—collects letters written by leading international scholars of the time, responding to specific objects brought into the Morgan Library’s collection by Greene.
