“Finitude, Death and Reverence for Life”

1985
Carol P. Christ’s search for symbols, myths, and rituals to replace the Judeo-Christian ones she finds pervasively patriarchal led her to explore the ancient traditions focusing on the worship of the Goddess – celebrations of the female characteristics of divinity and the holiness of the earth. These buxom, full-bodied images of women from antiquity, images of strength, beauty, and ingenuity, have been long since forgotten or destroyed by male-dominated culture.
