The first Antoinette Brown Lecturer, Professor Beverly Wildung Harrison, taught ethics at Union Theological Seminary. Considered the mother of Christian Feminist Ethics, she dedicated her energy to networks of religious feminists who emerged with irrepressible faith, strong intellect, and passionate commitment in the 1970s and 1980s. An advocate for the rights of minorities, Dr. Harrison was active in community organizations to promote voting, civil, housing, and abortion rights
