“God’s Body and Ours: Problems and Possibilities in Medieval Spirituality”
1976
Eleanor McLaughlin focused in her lecture on female leaders in the medieval church, to provide a corrective to the androcentric view. As a historian of medieval Christianity, McLaughlin was a leader in asserting women’s place in church history, and for the use of female imagery for God and Christ. Her work is an effort to recover the wholeness of male and female religious imagery which has existed in our Christian past.
