Sylvia Sanders Kelley: Early Supporter of Lectures
A 1954 graduate of Vanderbilt University, Sylvia Sanders Kelley and her husband, Blaine Kelley Jr., have been longtime supporters of the Divinity School, including serving on the Board of Visitors and sponsoring scholarships for VDS students. When Sylvia approached Dean Walter Harrelson about sponsoring a large theological conference on women’s issues at Vanderbilt, he suggested that she might have a greater impact by sponsoring the lecture series. Later, she joined with others to establish an endowment for the continued support of the Antoinette Brown Lectures.
