Olin Landreth was Vanderbilt University’s first professor of engineering and the engineering department’s first dean. He was appointed superintendent of buildings in 1882, putting him in charge of campus maintenance and construction projects. In 1886, Landreth designed and oversaw the construction of West Side Row and its dining hall, West Side Hall.
