After graduating in the Divinity Class of 1896, James Allen Thompson Parks returned to Indian Territory and joined the Indian Mission Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. For the next forty-two years, he worked as a “scholarly Evangelical Preacher” in Cherokee country and elsewhere in eastern Oklahoma, preached in towns across western Oklahoma, served as superintendent of the orphanage at Britton (now part of Oklahoma City), and ultimately was transferred east to Haskell, in the Muscogee Creek Nation, where he died in 1945. Reverend Parks’s Greek Bible includes many translations, notes, and reflections.
