Gates of Silence – Susan Botti and The Blakemore Trio
“Dido Refuses to Speak” is the third and final movement to Gates of Silence. The first movement, “Lament: The Fallen City,” is comprised of a violin and piano duo. The second movement, “The Journey Without Her,” is scored for piano trio. The soprano voice enters in the third movement. The work was inspired by Virgil’s Aenid, Gates of Silence, and is described as each of the three movements being connected yet independent.
