Lázaro Ceballos Fernández

Ceballos Fernández studied art in Cuba, drawing on the style of Ethiopian icons. His vibrant works include biblical stories and more abstract images of Cuban life. As a pastor in La Fraternidad de Iglesias Bautistas de Cuba, he celebrated the ordination of women in Cuba by painting Mary Magdalene as the Apostle to the Apostles, proclaiming the resurrection to the disciples. His commissioned works with Maczka continue in that spirit.
