These directions for making paint were found in the collected papers of Daniel Montgomery. It lists how to make blue, black, white, and green paint. In the early days of Tennessee, simple paint recipes helped decorate the houses and businesses in towns and cities. The recipes typically used linseed oil, turpentine, and dry pigments.
