One of Edward Gorey’s most popular alphabet books is the darkly satiric, The Gashlycrumb Tinies. The Edwardian children in the pages of this small treasure meet a variety of ominous fates. A range of imitators have produced their own take on Gorey’s work including satires of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones and J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
