La corbeille de fruits by Charles Malo is illustrated by Pancrace Bessa, an important floral artist and student of Pierre-Joseph Redouté, the most famous botanical painter of the era, artist to the courts of Marie-Antoinette and of Empress Josephine. Bessa’s illustrations reflect the interest in Classical imagery of the time period. This little volume has gold edged pages and a complementary slipcase.
