This sign promoted a Cabaret Luncheon on June 8th, 1925, intended to raise funds for a Dean of Women at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt alumnae recognized a need for the position, however, the administration was unwilling to provide the funds necessary for the job. In response, Vanderbilt alumnae organized several fundraising events like the Cabaret Luncheon to ameliorate the lack of funding. The first Dean of Women was appointed in 1925, demonstrating the success of such efforts.
