Vanderbilt’s female staff still faced stiff discrimination in the early 1970s. In response to this, women staff members formed the Staff Women’s Association in the fall of 1976 to organize their fight against gender-based discrimination. In the document they detail their plans to air grievances to the administration and force the administrators to act on these issues.
