In 1928, Ada Bell Stapleton bestowed the first Lady of the Bracelet Award upon an elected senior in recognition of her service and leadership. The superlative complemented the Bachelor of Ugliness title devised for men nearly fifty years prior. Vanderbilt eventually replaced gendered superlatives with the Outstanding Senior distinction.
