Christian Advocate, Vol. 67, No. 50
December 14, 1906
The Christian Advocate, edited by Bishop Elijah Embree Hoss, was a Methodist publication dedicated to the expansion of Christian ideals in social and political matters throughout the South. This edition of The Christian Advocate reports on the findings of The Vanderbilt Commission in 1906. The Vanderbilt Commission was a committee of judges charged with investigating and defining the relationship between Vanderbilt University and the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The commission concluded that the Church was to maintain full control over The University, only elevating tensions between the two bodies.
