Vanderbilt Football held an impressive record in its infant years, as documented by Dr. William L. Dudley (1859-1914), a Vanderbilt chemistry professor and avid athletes enthusiast. Dr. Dudley is credited as a founder of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Association (SIAA), and is often hailed as a forefather of the modern Southeastern Conference (SEC).
