David Dansby, director of the Hickman Co. public library, poses with library employees Sheila Bunn and Mavis Hiner as well as an albino deer taxidermy that has been the library’s mascot since 1976. During the pandemic, the library was open, but the book stacks were roped off with only employees being able to retrieve items for patrons. This portrait is an appreciation of the tireless public servants that found ways to continue to serve their respective communities while maintaining their own safety and that of the public they serve.
