Charles Bissell, 1908-2000 spent almost his entire career at The Tennessean creating artworks that concisely told a story in one image. He worked for decades alongside his brother-in-law, Tom Little, a Pulitzer Prize winning artist who assisted Bissell who was hearing impaired, during editorial meetings by relating the top stories of the day to him through an amended sign language and lip-reading.
