The Breviarie of Health
The Breviarie of Health was the last book ever published by Catholic monk turned physician, Andrew Boorde. The development of paper production during the late middle ages made it more cost and time efficient for Boorde to print his healthy lifestyle tips. However, the unique vellum cover with handwritten text, reused from another book, suggests that this item was created during the brief transition between vellum and paper in the late Middle Ages. Furthermore, it reinforces the notion that vellum materials were recycled, reused, and long lasting.
