Life on the Mississippi
This piece was selected for its many different quirks that give it a playful quality. While the beautiful binding of the book is impressive on its own, a hidden gem is found on closer inspection. Along the edge of the pages, there is an excellent example of fore-edge painting. When held at just the right placement, the edges of the pages reveal a portrait of Mark Twain and some of the icons associated with the author, such as the famous steamship.
