Dr. Young is the first Vice President for Institutional Equity and Access at Haverford College where she is also a professor of religion and gender and sexuality studies. She earned her B.A. in biology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, a masters of theology (focus on race, gender, and sexuality), masters of divinity (specialization in ethics), and Ph.D. in religion and ethics all from Emory University. She wrote Black Queer Ethics, Family, and Philosophical Imagination and co-authored the book Queer Soul and Queer Theology: Ethics and Redemption in Real Life with Laurel C. Schneider.
