The roof of Mechanical Engineering Hall supports an ornamental flyball centrifugal governor sculpture. Governors were used in steam-powered engines to regulate speed. When the building was incorporated into the Graduate School of Management, the governor sculpture could not be removed without damaging the roof and can still be viewed on the north side of the building.
