This sample page from the first volume of the library accession registers shows new titles which were added to the campus library’s collection. After the College Hall fire in 1905, library staff combed back through the register and marked destroyed items as “burned.” As news of the fire spread through the academic community, libraries and other benefactors across the county donated copies of books in their collection to Vanderbilt to assist in the rebuilding of the collection. Donors included the Library of Congress, The Smithsonian, Yale University, publishers, private collectors, and Vanderbilt faculty.
