Many of the graves at Rock Creek Cemetery are enclosed by latticework made out of tin. This type of covered grave, while found in Tennessee and in a couple of places in Kentucky, is extremely rare and at risk of disappearing. As seen here, families of the deceased would place plastic flowers, keepsakes and religious figures on the grave. The enclosures would usually contain a regular tombstone and a log running along the inside of the structure for families to sit on when they paid visits. The lamb on the head of the tombstone is often used on the graves of children, symbolizing Christ, the Lamb of God.
