“Playing jacks”

Two little girls, one with a garland adorning her head, play jacks on the teacher’s desk during their lunch break at Clairfield School. The children’s sweet innocence and youthful happiness penetrate this photograph. On the desk, an old and bent South Carolina license plate doubles as a bookend to hold the teacher’s books in place.
