William Morris in his essay “A Note by William Morris on His Aims in Founding the Kelmscott Press” outlines his principles of book design and specifically describes the kind of paper that will be used for his Kelmscott Press to wit that it must be hand made of linen rags and modelled on a Bolognese paper of 1473 and produced by Joseph Batchelor at his mill in Little Chart, Kent.
The specifications for this paper resulted in a durable and beautiful paper which Morris used exclusively for productions by the Kelmscott Press.
