Pas d’eau is set in a world undergoing radical climate change in which water has become a limited resource. The environmental crisis sparks government measures to combat the situation, such as limits to shipping, engineering projects that switch from oil discovery to water resources, and strict rules regarding public use of water. The novel explores evolutions to society required to deal with catastrophic changes to the global environment.
