[Church of the Strangers]

Cornelius Vanderbilt’s funeral was conducted at the Church of the Strangers in Manhattan, Frank Vanderbilt’s home church since 1866. It was at the church that Frank Crawford’s mother discovered a distant relationship with Cornelius Vanderbilt. The unlikely wedding of Cornelius and Frank resulted from their families’ membership in this church.
