Dr. Harold W. Jordan, second to right on the first row,
came to VUMC in 1964 as its first Black resident.
He later served as chair of Meharry’s Department of
Psychiatry, as acting dean at Meharry, and as
Commissioner of Mental Health and Mental Retardation
for the State of Tennessee.
