Place is to Space What Memory is to Time
Place to space is what memory is to time. Both space and time are in a constant state of change, yet the familiarity of a place anchors us with an individual or collective memory that creates a transient stillness. These photos showcase the present Vanderbilt campus in comparison with images from the past.
The similarities in structure create an almost surreal feeling as if we are looking at a distant memory or alternate reality. Camera acts as a ghostly observer, surveying the campus and documenting its transformation.
