Social Religious Building
Peabody College’s Social-Religious Building was named by benefactor John D. Rockefeller. The façade carries his dedicatory quote, “The Glory of God and the Service of Man.” Since its construction in 1914, it has at times housed the Peabody Music Library, the Naval ROTC, and had a swimming pool in the basement and a chapel in the west parlor. At Chancellor Joe Wyatt’s retirement in 2000, the building, newly renovated and expanded, was rechristened the Faye and Joe Wyatt Center for Education. Today it houses classrooms and conference rooms as well as a broadcasting and recording studio for online education.
