Torres Rodríguez was awarded the Premio América Bobia for 2017 for his poem, “Escaras.” The handmade book is in the form of a suitcase with images of Rio de Janeiro and other faraway places, juxtaposed with images of tiny boats on the shore in Matanzas, an island isolated from those faraway places.
