The Intrusion of Jimmy was first published in the U.S. in May 1910. Wodehouse first used the plot of the story in “The Gem Collector” which was published in Ainslee’s Magazine in December 1909. The book was published under the title A Gentleman of Leisure in the U.K. in November 1910 and adapted for the theatre in 1911. It was filmed as a movie in 1915 and 1923. The plot of the story contains many familiar Wodehouse elements: romantic liaisons, comic misadventures, and missing valuables.
