Psmith in the City

This series by P.G. Wodehouse consists of four novels featuring the charming and resourceful Rupert Psmith. Of all the protagonists in the Wodehouse novels, Psmith undergoes the most character development, evolving from a schoolboy to a sophisticated adventurer. Renowned for his monocle, fashionable dress, and wit, he often becomes embroiled in a variety of schemes to combat mundane office work or expose corruption as a muckraking journalist. Debuting in 1909 in the school novel Mike, the strong personality of Psmith dominates the last half of the book. In the other Psmith novels, Mike Jackson—the original protagonist of Mike—appears as a secondary character. The Psmith character last appears in Leave It to Smith, whose action takes place in the Blandings Castle community.
