The Pothunters is the first novel published by P.G. Wodehouse.  Set at the fictional public school of St. Austin’s, the story first appeared as a serial in Public School Magazine before being published as a novel in the U.K. and the U.S. in 1902.  Wodehouse soon abandoned the settings of these early novels to begin writing for the theatre, a career which spanned nearly three decades.
